P.L.A.Y.E.D. OUT

I'm sure everyone's (I definitely am) tired of the countless no-names or the always predictable MSTRKRFT remixes of Justice's 'D.A.N.C.E.'

I'll always be a sucker for Alan, though.

_

It's hot and hectic/difficult to post. But thanks to our contributors the blog is thriving.

The gay parade swept through our streets like Katrina. We had so many black lesbian chicks dancing I didn't know whether to play the next track or cut the level and insist they stop rubbing the microphone on their vaginas. Someone left a copy of Jack Slomovit's 'Sex in the West Village' torn to shreds on the door step. Very strange.

Condomaia has closed. It's sad to see gentrification's continuing effect on the village. These new families want doggie stores and tea houses, so they move to New York's Fetish capital.

Let's pray Bloomberg's greenyc plan does not go through... It looks pretty in the advertisements but it means thousands of more cameras throughout the city. I wasn't a fan of his stop light camera idea either and it's already fucked me. Not to mention the board just shit on rent stabilization.

Less public sex & vinyl, higher rent & more cameras. What is this city coming to.

At least the fountain at Father Demo is finally finished. The falling water deadens the area's cacophony dramatically. It took four years; well worth the wait. I remember when they first announced the renovation in 2003.

Some poetry from one of the greats... Aram Saroyan.

Rosemarie, rote Rose, rote Rosemarie,

Tanz, bitte tanze, tanze tanze mit mir, Rosemarie.
du-uhuh, nur du.
Steck dir rote Rosen an, (aahhh)

120 Days of Sodom

I've been enjoying this book for the last month. Leisurely reading in the park and before we go out at night. The History which surrounds the physical release of this Gothic Novel is almost as intriguing as the book itself.

"The 120 Days of Sodom" or the "School of Freedoms" is a book written by the French writer Marquis de Sade in 1784. It relates the story of four wealthy men who enslave 24 mostly teenaged victims and sexually torture them while listening to stories told by old prostitutes. The book was not published until 1905. Due to its extreme sexual and violent nature, the book remained banned in many countries for a long time. Sade wrote "The 120 Days of Sodom" in the span of thirty-seven days in 1784 while he was imprisoned in the Bastille. Being short of writing materials and fearing confiscation, he wrote it in tiny writing on a continuous, twelve-metre long roll of paper. When the Bastille was stormed and looted on July 14, 1789 during the height of the French Revolution, Sade believed the work was lost forever and later wrote that he "wept tears of blood" over its loss. However, the long roll of paper on which it was written was later found hidden in his cell, having escaped the attentions of the looters.

The book was adopted to film in '75. It is considered by many to be one of the most disturbing and unpleasant films ever made. Despite the horrors that it depicts; rape, coprophilia, and ritual mutilation, it can barely touch the perversities listed in the book. Never the less, here are some screen shots.

Shout out!

My boy Joshua Menendez of Revolver fame just launched a blog of his own. Dude's doing it all.

Not only is he talking about music, but he's aiming to target everything from fashion to food, in hopes to help Miami natives get with the picture.

Revolver just celebrated its 8 1/2 year anniversary last month with Flosstradamus.

Weekend Update

First things first. This weekend was just incredible. Brooklyn had the heat day after day. So it goes, After the Teddy Boy EP I was convinced Kavinsky (pictured left) was going to be huge. Seeing Him perform and TEAR THE PLACE DOWN his First time in the US Ever was a complete honor. Here are the videos. Next Night we went to see Mr. Oizo (It was his first performance in the US as well) and here are those videos. Then some beer and barbeque and parade. Just. Crazy. Here's some hard to come by tunes.

The Winner

who is the man doing everything he can?
the winner the winner.
at the finish line, first one every time,
the winner the winner.

he spends his life in a box
of ideas he can use.
but every night you can find him alone.
a loser.

now he's won himself, but he's getting nowhere else,
the winner the winner.
and he needs a friend cause it's getting near the end,
the winner the winner.

he sits at home with the toys
that he has to amuse.
just hear his moans,he's so sad who he is,
a loser.

the winner is a sinner,
has a minnow for his dinner.
the winner is a sinner,
has a minnow for his dinner.

who is this man doing everything he can?
the winner.
it happens every time,
when he wins he knows he's lying.
the winner the winner,
a winner.

I'm just doing this for you guys, (It helps that my Lit. class got cancelled) Personally, I have to agree with Zombieshark. I think Kanye should have never made this track. Not because it's all that bad, just because it plays out the original Daft Punk track.

yup its deinitely 2007.

I'm not going to pop shit about his wack voice over daft punk. nope.

I strangled a stuckist the other day with a rolled up blank canvas.
A camera haphazardly fell out of a womans purse and snapped a photo of the exchange. It's now hanging in a gallery on east 7th.

There is nothing in this world worse than the confines of culturally imposed limitation; unwritten, subversively ingrained into your psyche, guiding your actions at every other decision you face.

There is no way to prevent it but complete social abstinence, as these 'ideals' are dictated through connotation.

Stuckists are everywhere, in all walks of life and are by no means accurately represented by the few who adopted the title. Thankfully, John Cage composed a song just for them.
