you lied to me last night for the last time.
strangle
Roughly translates to "caught in the act."
He's been written about before on the blog, but I've always been a sucker for Braxe & Falke, and Kris here's killin it.
Operate that body.
The production value of the BB&Q Band's 4th full length effort is harder than 99.9% of the electro artists in 2007 ('Genie' released in '85). Direct your ears to the au courant mix down, synth treatment ('Don't Force It'), glitch break ('Dreamer' ->3:37) refined use of compression and of course, the drums. uhh.
These dudes return with a third album titled Myth Takes. Being released by Warp Records in March, here's what the label had to say:
Exclusive track from "Whitest Boy Alive" written for them by Metro Area's Morgan Geist. Also check out the old interview with Morgan.
Posted are 2 tracks of the forthcoming LCD Sound System LP "Sound of Silver". Personally, James Murphy's vocals have never been a favorite of mine. I mostly look forward to the instrumentation and arrangements. And after hearing the whole album, I was definitely left wondering why they lead with 'North American Scum'. Anyway...
A certain, soft spoken girl stampeded the scene back in 2005. The hype explosion around Annie has long since died down. It's always interesting to see how promotional efforts cause a surge of clamour and then completely abandon their client once no longer financially obligated. Annie had close to 20 remixes done for her Heartbeat single. Below are some of the best. Also included is a Sebastian remix of 'happy without you' which is a personal favorite of mine as well as a Teddybears track featuring Annie.
Posted is a video of SebastiAn playing an unreleased track of his, at a party in Montreal. More interesting is watching the frogs get down. For this reason, I also posted a TTC video. Not to mention, I've always enjoyed making fun of the fat member. Guy is straight bubba sparxxx meets college football meets down syndrome. (and his stuttering in French is priceless)
For some reason, over the past 2 years, I have been frequently drawn to this site. Be it, to search profiles for ominous signs, to read the messages of the bereaved or to revel in the irony of a seemingly happy individual, who dies of self inflicted trauma from a gun shot blast to the dome piece.
Ras Kass recetly made public, a letter he has written to Capitol Records. In it, he thoroughly describes his 10 year relationship with the label, who has only released 2 albums of his. Click the link to read about years of major label supression straight from the artists mouth. (This shit is just sad.)
I sent IE.merg a track I've been working on literally minutes ago and he responded with "cool. italo steez." I guess he's right, even though I wasn't intentionally looking for that sound, somehow that's the best way to describe it. Italo Disco, a genre I've become pretty familiar with in the last few years is mad old. So old, dudes from Italy started it in like the late 70s. The sound's obviously an influence to artists I like i.e. Morgan Geist, Lindstrom, Kavinsky, just to name a few.
Rarely do I have the pleasure of redirecting the spotlight to an artist of Eli's caliber. What DJ Eli represents is something that is grossly undervalued in today's world of iphone hype and flash-JPG-profile-pic saturated digital interaction... Genuine, uncompromised talent. And what's most distinct about him, is the fact that he is extremely cultured in the music game. He's been collecting vinyl since before most of you were phishing for passwords on the original versions of AOL.
A huge contributing factor to success as an indie band is having the right artists remix your songs for the dance floor. And in this realm, the Klaxons have been blessed. Posted is the original track + 2 remixes.
A friend once asked me to do a Mash-Up cd. I expressed unto him, my sheer disgust that he even sugested the idea.
Family of the NormRex Guild, Jimmy has been keeping a video blog since the start of the new year. I've got a feeling, it's automatic.

I'd def. cop tickets and stand amoungst a couple hundred sweaty assholes to see a good live show. Feels like an indie rock stomp. im down.
Man... you don't know about Kris Menace?
So I've been hearing about these blokes that apparently combine all the sounds I love. These sweet sounds being those of Daft Punk, Justice, Sebastian, Simian Mobile Disco. Yeah that shit sounds unreal but it's partly true. These dudes, supposedly from "Earth", UK are pretty dope at what they do. I myself fiddle around with recording and make music from time to time, but I stray away from the French House sound. Somehow, Does It Offend You captures all this shit and combines it into finely-tuned music.
The new Air LP, "Pocket Symphony" set to be released march 5th, is georgeous. Below I've posted my favorite track from the album.
